Texas Woman's University in Denton is helping former foster care youth prepare for college through its FAST Academy program. The program, which stands for Foster Alumni Succeed and Thrive, is a month-long residential summer school that helps build academic skills and confidence.

More than two dozen foster care alumni have graduated from the program and are headed to college this fall. They spent their time on campus earning college credit and participating in various activities.

Further details about the program and its impact are available from the university, which is working to improve the low national college graduation rate of foster care alumni.
